Attention all Federal workers: Maryland Community Connection has been approved for the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area.

Maryland Community Connection’s Universal Code is 81345.

The mission of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost–efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. The CFC is the only national authorized workplace giving drive for employees in the Federal workplace to give to charitable organizations.

For $25 per pay period, you've got the power to:

· Purchase a portable ramp so a wheelchair bound teen can venture out into her community.

· Empower a young mom with disabilities to gain employment to provide for her three children.

· Provide therapy sessions for a senior with a disability.

· Provide needy families with individuals with disabilities food baskets during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

· Purchase a two-week stay at camp for a child with disabilities.

· Support “Family Fun & Fitness Day” for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

· Pay for travel expenses for one disabled person going to college to further her education.

· Equip an office with desk, computer, and other needed furniture.

· Furnish an opportunity to take a belly dancing class for an individual with a disability

· Pay for travel expenses for one disabled person going to seeking job opportunities in the community

· Fund the printing and distribution of newsletters to individuals with developmental disabilities affecting their lives

· Make one community-based mentoring match for an at risk youth.

· Pay a month's salary for a community counselor.

· Maintain a website-answering questions about services to the developmental disabled

CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help to raise millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non–profit organizations, like Maryland Community Connection that provide health and human service benefits throughout Maryland.

The most common method of making a donation is by filling out the traditional paper pledge card and having the amount that you choose deducted from each paycheck. You may also use the pledge card to make a donation by check or cash. You can use the CFCNCA website to help in the pledge process, and in departments or agencies that are part of the CFC-e ™ program you'll be able to print your pledge card on line. Remember to select 81345 to support Maryland Community Connection.

With your funding support, we can improve the quality of our programs and services for individuals with disabilities and provide increased access and opportunities for these individuals to build strong, sustainable communities.

But it’s not nearly enough. On any given day in Prince George’s County, about 1,000 people with developmental disabilities need services. The number of individuals with developmental disabilities in need of services increases daily, but they are turned away because of lack of services or funding. As a donor, you can help us as we face the challenge of reductions in funding and human services by local, state, and the federal government. Your tax-deductible contributions mean Maryland Community Connection and the CFC can extend its reach to vulnerable members of our communities.

We need your help to help individuals with developmental disabilities. Securing resources to meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities is increasingly difficult. Your generosity helps to ensure that Maryland Community Connection will be there for individuals who want to achieve the dreams of independence.
