Supported Employment

Individuals with developmental disabilities and their families are often unaware of the various trainings, services, and employment opportunities that are available. Maryland Community Connection will help identify desired employment, provide employment training, and assist in maintaining employment. Maryland Community Connection services include job development, technology access, job search, resume and application development, job training, and job retention.

Once employment is in place, Maryland Community Connection will serve as an advocate in continuing training and services for achieving the desires and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CSLA/ FISS / Recreation

Maryland Community Connection’s CSLA/ FISS services are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities desiring specific areas of support. MCC’s CSLA/ FISS services cover a wide array of support and are provided by making use of resources available in the community, while at the same time, building on the individual’s existing support network. MCC’s CSLA/ FISS services accommodate a wide range of choices that individuals and their families make about how to live in their communities.

Maryland Community Connection has support staff to provide assistance in the following areas: Budgeting, Case Management, Community Integration, Crisis Intervention & Follow Up, Housekeeping, In-Home Attendant Care, Maintaining Benefits, Section 8 Housing, Social Security, Energy Assistance, Public Assistance, Purchase of Service, Medical Appointments, Medical Equipment Purchase, Rental and Repair, Medical Supplies, Menu Planning, Recreation, Shopping, and Transportation Assistance.

Maryland Community Connection believes in the value of providing recreation programs, which will allow individuals to stretch their skills and potential. The program will also promote relationships between other disabled individuals, as well as with other individuals in their communities. Maryland Community Connection acknowledges the importance of physical activity for all. Sport and recreation is recognized by Maryland Community Connection as playing a crucial role in promoting healthier (both physical and mental) lifestyles, enhancing personal self-esteem, and building stronger communities.

Rolling Access

Maryland Community Connection is proud to announce we have been awarded the on-going Rolling Access Grant for DDA. Families in need of low intensity support services may access them directly through MCC’s Rolling Access. MCC will provide Family Support Services for at least 13 children and Individual Support Services for 25 adults total combined in FY 08 and FY 09 if they do not receive DDA services except case management from Resource Connection.

“Low level supports”, sometimes called “rolling access”, are those supports identified by the family that may be provided for less than $870.00 for children and $960.00 for adults by June 30, 2008; however, these supports are limited by the extent to which resources are available. This helps families to receive support quickly without going through the full eligibility process. Families need only verify the child’s developmental disability. Services that may be covered by Rolling Access include respite, purchase of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, camp, and uninsured medical expenses.
